150+ This or That Questions

Two options, five seconds, no overthinking — the fastest game on this site.

Hit draw and answer in five seconds.

The fastest game in the deck

This or that is would-you-rather's quicker cousin: two words, instant pick, no essay required. The pace is the point — you can burn through twenty questions in five minutes, which makes it perfect for warm-ups, ice breakers and short attention spans.

The rule that keeps it fun: first instinct counts. Overthinking a choice between 'coffee' and 'tea' kills the round. Use the draw button for randomness, or run a category straight down the list.

How to play this or that

Three rule variants depending on how fast your group moves.

  1. Five-second rule

The reader says the pair and counts down from five. No answer by zero means the room picks for you. Speed is what separates this from would you rather.

  2. Point left or point right

Assign each option a side of the table and have everyone point simultaneously. For a moving version, each side of the room is one option and you walk to your pick.

  3. Streak mode

One reader fires ten questions in a row while everyone answers instantly; anyone who hesitates loses the streak. Great as a warm-up before other games.

  4. Draw for the tiebreakers

When a pair splits the room badly, hit the draw button and let the bank pick the next one. Scope chips keep a kids' round or a food round moving in one theme.

FAQ

What's the difference between this or that and would you rather?

Length and speed. Would you rather questions are full scenarios you can argue about; this or that pairs are usually one or two words answered in seconds. Use this or that for pace, would you rather for discussion.

How many this or that questions fit in a 10-minute round?

A group of 4–8 burns through roughly 25–40 pairs in ten minutes. One category above plus the draw button is plenty for a meeting warm-up.

Are these questions okay for work ice breakers?

Yes — the everyday, food and tech categories are all meeting-safe. Skip the tough calls with new colleagues; they work better once people know each other.

Can kids play this or that?

The kids category uses simple, concrete choices that work from about age four up — and they double as quick ESL speaking prompts for beginners.

How do I play this or that over text?

Send one pair per message and answer with a single word each. The five-second rule becomes 'first word you type' — it stays fast and weirdly honest.
